Clear Crystal Inspection Ltd (CCILTD) is currently performing offshore Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) activities as part of an integrity management and condition monitoring program for safety-critical components.
Technical Scope of Work
The inspection scope involves the application of Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) to ferromagnetic materials for the detection of surface and near-surface discontinuities, including but not limited to:
Fatigue cracks
Linear indications
Seams and laps
Welding-related defects
MPI is being applied in areas subject to cyclic loading and environmental exposure, where early defect detection is essential to maintaining structural integrity.
Inspection Methodology
Surface preparation in accordance with approved inspection procedures
Application of suitable magnetization techniques (AC/DC as applicable)
Use of calibrated MPI equipment and approved consumables
Interpretation and evaluation of indications in line with acceptance criteria
Demagnetization and post-inspection surface condition restoration where required
All inspections are conducted by qualified and certified NDT personnel in accordance with applicable international standards and client specifications.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
The ongoing MPI operations are executed under strict compliance with:
Offshore HSE management systems
Approved Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements
Applicable international NDT standards and procedures
Risk assessments, access control, and environmental considerations are fully implemented to ensure safe and effective execution of inspection activities offshore.
Engineering Value
The application of MPI at this stage of operation enables:
Early identification of crack initiation and propagation
Prevention of structural or lifting-related failures
Reduction of unplanned downtime
Support for informed maintenance and repair decisions
Project Status
The offshore MPI scope is currently in progress, with inspection findings being systematically documented and reported in accordance with agreed reporting and traceability requirements.
